Women Take Tech Scholarship 2022/23 Application Guide

The coming of the Women Take Tech Scholarship was prompted as the computer sector has been battling a challenge that it still hasn’t resolved for years: a male-dominated workforce. Despite the progress, female parity in technology is still too far off.

Overview of the Scholarship

However, there are still not nearly enough women in technology as of July 2020. In the tech industry, men outnumber women by a ratio of around 2:1, and this disparity is considerably more pronounced in technical positions.

Sadly, the trend-setters in the sector haven’t either; gender diversity still varies greatly among tech’s most significant organizations. The industry sometimes moves in the right direction with these ratios, while other times it moves in the opposite direction.

In addition to the issues that arise naturally from a gender gap, they are detrimental to the cultural and financial health of an organization.

Half of the women working in tech leave the industry each year, costing tech companies more than $16 billion, and a company’s business performance directly correlates with its gender parity. Simply said, businesses with a more diverse workforce produce better products and are more likely to succeed.

Of course, we are where change begins. There are a lot of things they can do to support this, like bringing misconceptions to light, identifying biases that may discourage young women from pursuing STEM fields, promoting better employment practices, advancing tech scholarships for women, and making tech education more accessible.
