Pacific Leaders scholarship 2022-23 Application Requirements

The Pacific Leaders Scholarship for Public Servants Program encourages professional growth among employees in accordance with the present-day and future demands of the British Columbia Public Service.

This Pacific Leaders scholarship program is not intended for individuals taking one or two courses; rather, it is for B.C. government employees who wish to earn a diploma, certificate, or degree.

One or two developmental courses that don’t lead to a certificate, diploma, or degree may be funded by ministries at their discretion.

Pacific Leaders scholarship Programme Overview

This scholarship assists talented and driven BC public servants in achieving their professional objectives by pursuing a formal program of study in subjects pertinent to the objectives of the administration.

The Pacific Leaders Scholarship for Public Servants Program supports certificate, diploma, or degree-granting developmental training program.

Reimbursement to scholarship awardees is possible once every 12-month period.

• Up to a maximum of $5,000 for:
  1. Certificate programs
  2. Diploma programs
  3. Undergraduate degree programs
• Up to a maximum of $7,500 for:
  1. Master’s degree programs
  2. PhD degree programs
  3. CPA Professional Education Program (CPA-PEP)

Programs of study must :

• Include measured components (such as graded exams, tests, assignments, etc.)
• Result in a final grade that appears on a transcript of gradesEligible for scholarship funding:
  • Tuition
  • Books

  Not eligible for scholarship funding:

  • Fees
  • Prior Learning Assessment and Recognition (PLAR)
  • Prerequisite courses
  • CPA Prerequisite Education Program (CPA-PREP)

Scholarship value $2,500

Available Awards 60-Pacific Leaders scholarship

Up to 60 scholarships of $2,500 are offered to children of B.C. public employees each year. A bachelor’s degree program or trade, technical, or vocational training must accept applicants who are under 25 and who have been approved (or provisionally accepted) for enrollment as full-time students. A designated public or private post-secondary institution in the Province of British Columbia must offer the curriculum.

Students who meet the requirements and have parents who have worked for the BC Public Service for the previous three years may apply.

Pacific Leaders scholarship Deadline

This year’s application deadline or cutoff date for the Pacific Leaders scholarship is in May 14, 2021. The final Friday in February will see the release of the 2021 application.

Eligibility-Pacific Leaders scholarship

For one to be eligible for Pacific Leaders scholarship, there are some prerequisites and/or eligibility criteria that you must pass which includes that if:

1. Your academic record is strong (minimum B grade average or above for high school, Grades 10 to 12, and any post-secondary education)
2. You were a student as of the application deadline indicated above and are under the age of 25.
3. You’ve never previously been given a scholarship from Pacific Leaders Scholarships for Children of Public Servants. One scholarship is all you are eligible to get in your lifetime.
4. You must be a full-time student and have at least one parent who works full- or part-time as a regular employee for a BC Public Service employer, according to StudentAidBC regulation. This applies to all departments and entities authorized by the Public Service Act.
5. prior to the application date indicated above, your parent had been employed by the BC Public Service for the previous three years.
6. You intend to enroll in an accredited college or university in British Columbia to pursue an undergraduate degree, technical or vocational training, or a trade.

Application Revocation

• If your parent works as a political staffer as defined by the Standards of Conduct for Political Staff, an auxiliary or casual employee, or both, they are ineligible to apply. Please have your parents contact AskMyHRRestricted Access by submitting a service request using the categories My Team or Organization > Employee & Labour Relations> Other Issues & Inquiries, if you are unsure of their work status.
• You are also ineligible if your father works in the general public sector, which includes:
  • Authorities for Health in Each Province (such as VIHA)
  • School districts and universities
  •  Crown Corporations (Example: Community Living BC, BC Hydro)
  • other local or federal authorities (Example: police)
